Currently the vast majority of individuals die in hospitals or in a retirement home baptized for the circumstance of places where old people are left to die!
The hospitals, despite all the efforts of decoration, will always remain places of sickness and suffering that one prefers to avoid.
Retirement homes are more and more expensive and filled with very old people of whom many would like to die because they have had enough of this life
in which they are no longer able to carry out their own hygiene care and to satisfy their natural needs.
A small minority dies at home, a home often abandoned, small and sad
(why make pleasant his "home" when we know that we are going to
die?).
A need:
Many of us would like the moment of death to take place in a beautiful
and grand place, majestic almost "cosmo-telluric"
like in the stories of Indians who, feeling their next end climb on the hill
and leave admiring The heavenly vault, "It is a beautiful day to die" they say wisely and serenely.
A serenity that is terribly lacking to the incurable patients and to the
old people at the end of their lives.
To die with dignity without suffering does not exclude a touch of
solemnity
To leave definitively it is not a simple formality, it is a one way trip
to "the
other bank" which deserves a small ceremonial with a certain
metaphysical dimension in a place specially designed for this purpose:
One ... CENTER PAX
It is a carefully chosen place in a pleasant, quiet and silent site
featuring a small hotel complex whose architecture is specially designed in the
middle of a welcoming park and exuding an atmosphere of peace and serenity.
A hotel resort where the candidate at the start could stay a few days
before swallowing his "lethal" beverage.
A place conducive to meditation, rest of the mind, contemplation with
cosy rooms and decorated harmoniously (the ceiling could let the glimpse of the
starry sky, indeed, we never took much time during his life to observe the
stars).
A place of the past, the
present, the future all at once. A timeless place, a place ... ZEN!
A place where it will of course be possible for relatives to stay as
accompanying persons.
Additional services will be defined: restoration, palliative care,
places of worship, meditation refuges, etc.
The day of departure: A custom ceremonial can be proposed (film on
panoramic home cinema, selected music, machine L & S "Sensora",
lighting games ...)
To cut short the detractors of
euthanasia, prolife fanatics and bigots ...
- A CENTER
PAX is not only dedicated to people at the end of life, incurable patients and
bedridden who want to leave.
Its other
destination is to give back a meaning to life for ... REBIRTH!
A CENTER
PAX is also aimed at thousands of people who are often young and healthy but
desperate and want to put an end to life and who find their only answer is
suicide, which is often carried out under morbid conditions, the opposite of
serenity.
In a CENTER
PAX these suicidal people will be housed in an atmosphere of PEACE and SERENITY
to regain the taste for life, to revitalize not to leave but to start up again!
►
Promiscuity with those who "leave" definitively (incurable and
pre-bedside patients) far from being an aggravating factor will be, on the
contrary, a salutary therapy, as many sociological observations have proved.
Various
activities which have proved themselves will be proposed to give them a taste
of life: Meditation, Relaxation, Sophrology, Yoga ...
► To avoid
being accused of any allegiance to a discipline, religion, sect ... different
activities from different schools will be proposed.
On the
other hand the psychological supervision will be outside the CENTER PAX which
must not turn into a psychiatric clinic.
CENTER PAX: To find the Peace and the Serenity to leave or to start up
again!
Are there examples of more or less similar
projects?
YES two examples to our knowledge:
The refuges to
the stars
Michel LECLERC, the creator of the Roc-Eclerc franchise, was the second
funeral service provider in France. In 2001, he planned to build refuges to the
stars, a large funerary complex comprising a funerarium, cremation facilities,
surrounded by gardens, restaurants and hotels.
This project, which is nearing completion in the Gironde, has failed
because of hostile reactions from certain residents.
The Ontological
Centers
"The
man to meet the Gods"
In 1987 a billionaire American designed a "crazy" project (not
so crazy?).
Passionate about the history of ancient Greece, he wanted to rebuild the
Greek temples of Epidaurus, Eleusis, Delphi and the Parthenon of Athens in
order to turn them into special tourist resorts that he called ONTOLOGICAL
CENTERS ( From the Greek Ontos = being and logos signifying study).
Hotel complexes with the same form architecture as the famous temples
with white colonnades, marvelous gardens full of statues, adorned with
waterfalls, fountains and water gardens. An architecture that would be a fundamental
element for the imagination of customers come to recharge.
The realization of a Center Pax
In a free country like Oregon, Montana, California, Vermont, Switzerland,
Belgium, Holland where death in dignity is allowed.
This project could emerge in the form of a FOUNDATION which would enable it to receive bequests and donations
from all over the world.
There is a colossal need for such centers and surely many donors and
benefactors and potential sponsors.
The worldwide movement of "Right
to Die Societies" could contribute effectively to the dissemination of
this project and its realization.
WARNING
The staff
of a CENTER PAX is primarily a hospitality staff, the same as that of a
so-called medicalized residence. In order to comply with the requirements of
the Criminal Code, it cannot be involved in any suicide.
The
accompanying service if requested (which, in practice is rare) will be carried
out by unpaid volunteers and without selfish motives.
Partnerships
can be envisaged with undertakers (burial and transport or incineration), clinics,
schools, etc.
Finally:
It is a grandiose, humanistic and respectable project.
Faced to the rather untimely deadlines that are on the horizon
(galloping demographics and aging of the population, aggravation of ecosystems
and depletion of natural resources, economic and sociological crises on a
global scale), it is also a project that responds to an increasingly URGENT
need.
A project that could solve all the problems of work overload and lack of
labor in hospitals by formalizing this "right to leave" by the creation of new services and
consequently new jobs.
